Nonstop to Hollywood, Delta launches Amsterdam-Los Angeles flight

AMSTERDAM, June 18, 2018 Delta Air Lines [NYSE:DAL] is boosting its North American network from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport by adding a new route to Los Angeles (LAX) on June 18, 2018. The airline’s 10th nonstop destination from the Netherlands – and second new route this summer – the flight will operate four times weekly, linking Amsterdam to Delta’s West Coast hub.

“With Dutch visitor numbers to California increasing by almost 15 percent last year*, we’re responding to demand for more service to the West Coast,” said Dwight James, Delta’s senior vice president trans-Atlantic. “Amsterdam is now connected nonstop to all our U.S. hubs, offering the convenience one-stop service to over 200 destinations and more nonstop choice on Delta from the Netherlands.”

From thrill seekers to star spotters, holidaymakers will be spoiled for choice in Los Angeles. The city is home to the world-famous Hollywood Studios – and some of its most famous faces – plus many theme parks including Universal Studios, Legoland and Disneyland. Meanwhile, there are beautiful beaches in and around L.A, from the people watchers’ paradise of Venice Beach to the surfers’ favourites of Malibu, Zuma and Santa Monica.

Delta operates more than 170 daily flights and connects more passengers to its partner airlines via Los Angeles than anywhere else in the U.S.. The airline is investing in the airport through a $1.86 billion plan to modernize, upgrade and connect Terminals 2, 3, and the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Customers flying from Amsterdam to Los Angeles benefit from onward connections to popular destinations throughout the United States and beyond, including: Honolulu, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Phoenix, Albuquerque and Tuscon.

Delta One customers returning to Amsterdam from Los Angeles will benefit from access to the new Delta ONE at LAX check-in space, which offers an exclusive service including:

  • Ease of access –Closer to the airport entrance, minimizing the time it takes for passengers to get to the gate and catch their flight.
  • Private check-in area – A relaxing space for customers to enjoy a drink from the refreshment bar while Delta takes care of their checked bags.
  • Expedited security clearance – Delta’s Elite Service Team escorts customers through an exclusive access corridor for an expedited security clearance.
  • Delta Sky Clubs – Complimentary access to Clubs situated on the Mezzanine levels of Terminals 2 and 3, offering healthy food options, well-stocked bars, Wi-Fi and more.

Delta has scheduled a 291-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the Los Angeles flight, which is timed to complement KLM’s existing daily services. Operated in conjunction with joint venture partners Air France KLM, Delta’s new service is scheduled to operate as follows:
